The Hockley County Memorial Library has announced the summer reading program, “Adventure Begins at the Library.”
The program encourages children and adults alike to avoid summer boredom with a good book starting Wednesday, June 3, and ending Wednesday, July 31.
To get started, parents or guardians will fill out a registration form for each child and get the first activity set. Children can be registered throughout the summer until July 15. Each child will have their name displayed in the library to show they are participating. For each activity set completed and returned to the library before 4:30 p.m. on July 31, they will receive a prize. There are eight activity sets this summer, which is about one set to be completed per week of the summer program. Be sure to take your completed activity set into the library to receive your prize!
The library also has several events planned to keep the kids interested. The kick-off event will start at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, with “Magic by Bronson Chadwick”. The other events scheduled are:
* June 5 at 10 a.m. – Magic by Bronson Chadwick (at First Methodist Church)
* June 12 at 10 a.m. – Minis
and Friends-Miniature Therapy Horses
* June 19 at 10:00am – Keep Levelland Beautiful Trash Art Contest
* June 26 at 10 a.m. – Adventure Quest
* July 3 at 10 a.m. Apples and Art * July 10 at 10 a.m. Bagels and Books
* July 17 at 10 a.m. Cookies and Coloring
* July 24 at 10 a.m. Donuts and Doodles
* July 31 at 10 a.m. Movie and popcorn All of the events and updated information will be posted on Facebook (Hockley County Memorial Library) and the calendars located in the library.

The library is located at 811 Austin Street (the Northeast corner of Austin Street and Avenue H) in Levelland. The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
