Levelland Fire Report

5/30/2024 - DISPATCHED 10:03 A.M. - CLEARED 10:17 A.M. -LEVELLAND

The fire department received a call of a possible gas meter leak in the 300 block of Douglas Street. A fire unit was dispatched to the location where they found an Atmos crew already addressing the situation. The meter was checked before being released from the scene from Atmos.

5/27/2024 - DISPATCHED 10:15 A.M. - CLEARED 10:30 A.M. -LEVELLAND

The fire department received a report of a carbon monoxide detector going off at a residence located in the 300 block of 16th Street. A gas meter was used, but no alerts were shown.

5/27/2024 - DISPATCHED 7:07 A.M. - CLEARED 7:25 A.M. LEVELLAND The fire department received a call reporting a gas smell coming from the Hockley County Jail. After investigation it was determined there was no harmful gas present after using a gas meter.

5/24/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:39 P.M. - CLEARED 1:15 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a report from the LPD stating there was a small grass fire in the ditch across from Smith South Plains on Highway 114. A fire unit responded to the area and extinguished the small fire.

5/23/2024 - DISPATCHED 9:21 P.M. - CLEARED 10;37 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of an individual burning items in the 200 block of W. Monroe. Fire personnel made contact with the homeowner and advised it was illegal to burn within city limits. The homeowner advised the fire would be put out.

5/22/2024 - DISPATCHED 2:43 P.M. - CLEARED 4:20 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The fire department received a report of a tractor fire near Monaco road and Phoenix Road. While enroute, units responding located heavy black smoke and requested assistance from Cochran County. Units on scene discovered the tractor fully involved before extinguishing the fire.

5/20/2024 - DISPATCHED 11:12 A.M. - CLEARED 11:44 A.M. -HOCKLEYCOUNTY

The LFD received a call of a small grass fire in a bar ditch near the intersection of Highway 385 and FM 1585. The caller stated the fire had been extinguished but requested the department to check the area for any remaining hot spots.

5/15/2024 - DISPATCHED 4:01 P.M. - CLEARED 4:57 P.M. LEVELLAND The fire department received a call stating Atmos was requesting standby at a gas leak in the 800 block of Avenue D due to striking a line near a residence. While fire personnel stood by, Atmos was able to close the leak and make repairs.

5/15/2024 - DISPATCHED 9:19 A.M. - CLEARED 9:49 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD was dispatched to Sundown Tubing Testing after a report of a hot oiler on fire inside the shop. After checking the truck, it was determined the fire had extinguished itself.

5/14/2024 - DISPATCHED 9:59 P.M. - 11:05 P.M. - HOCKLEY

COUNTY

The LFD was dispatched to W. Highway 114 and N. FM 2646 due to a multi-vehicle collision. All occupants were out of the vehicles and being treated by Levellend EMS while on scene. Fire personnel remained on scene directing traffic while debris and the scene were cleared.

5/9/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:02 P.M. - CLEARED 2:40 LEVELLAND The fire department received a report of a fire in the backyard of a residence located in the 1200 block of Avenue L. Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered two structures fully involved. Xcel Energy was contacted to shutoff power to the residence. Units were able to protect the neighboring structures along with the residence on the premises from involvement. All units stood by as hot spots were extinguished and monitored.

5/8/2024 - DISPATCHED 6:04 P.M. - CLEARED 9:15 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY LFD personnel were dispatched to Anton for mutual aid concerning a grass fire. The fire was located near the intersection of FM 597 and FM 168. Fire personnel aided Anton units extinguish hot spots before returning to the station.

5/8/2024 - DISPATCHED 4:34 P.M. - CLEARED 4:40 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY Fire personnel were dispatched to a grassfire at the intersection of Highway 114 and Owl Road. While enroute, Smyer VFD advised LFD they could return to the station.

5/6/2024 - DISPATCHED 9:06 P.M. - CLEARED 9:35 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The fire department received a call of an unknown type of fire near the 3200 block of FM 300. Once on scene, it was discovered the fire was a controlled burn. The individual burning was advised to notify the LFD before burning in the future.

5/6/2024 - DISPATCHED 3:24 P.M. - CLEARED 3:35 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call from the Walmart alarm company and dispatched a unit to the alarm. The call was canceled as it was deemed a false alarm.

5/6/2024 - DISPATCHED 8:19 A.M. - CLEARED 8:54 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD assisted Levelland EMS with a forcible entry through the front door of a residence located in the 1100 block of Sherman Avenue.

5/3/2024 - DISPATCHED 8:57 P.M. - CLEARED 10 P.M. LEVELLAND The fire department received a call reporting a vehicle had struck a residence in the 1300 block of West Avenue. Following investigation, it was determined that the vehicle has lost control and hit two of the front columns of the porch.

5/3/2024 - DISPATCHED 6:07 A.M. - CLEARED 6:45 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD was dispatched to the Hockley County Jail due to jailers hearing arcing wires. It was discovered that apple sauce had been spilt on a charging port. Once maintenance arrived, the charging port was moved and the wires were capped off and deemed safe.
