LHS Band Director Michael Cason and Assistant Band Director Matthew Tolentino announced awards by Lobo Band members at Pflugerville in the UIL State Solo and Ensemble contest last weekend. Michelle Bustillos and Alvaro Loza received silver medals for their performances on their flute solos. The saxophone ensemble (River Castillo, Jose Muro, Austin Ellis and Caleb Miller) and the flute choir (Michelle, Alvaro, AnnaLee Napier, Rosa Servin, Kaydence Escarcega, Sallie Guzman, Briana Flores, and Heather Stancell) received a rating of Excellent. Our other solo state qualifiers, Ada Niederhauser and Ensemble State qualifiers, and clarinet choir (Valentin Esparza-Vargas, Matt Almager, Anaylis Aguilar, Israel Guiterrez, Robert Cage, and Gabby Ortiz) had good performances and represented LHS well.
