The Hockley County Amateur Radio Club (HCARC) will be hosting a Amateur Radio “Field Day” event from June 22 through June 23.
The members of HCARC will be participating in the national Radio Field Day exercise at the Levelland Fire Department located at 605 5th Street.
On both days, the exercise will begin at 1 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.The event will focus on skill, service and science.
Since 1993, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of amateur radio. The event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
Field Day is a showcase for how amateur radio works reliably under conditions from almost any location to create an independent communications network. Additionally, anyone can be a licensed amatuer radio operator.
