7/13/2024 – DISPATCHED 5:15 P.M. – CLEARED 5:47 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD was notified of a downed power line in an alleyway in the1200 block of Denver Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered the line was a communication line and not a power line. The proper company was notified of the downed line before returning to the station.
7/10/2024 – DISPATCHED 9:45 P.M. – CLEARED 10:52 P.M. –HOCKLEYCOUNTY
The LFD received a report of a possible grass fire near the intersection of FM 2646 and Florida Road. The Smyer Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) was also dispatched to the location. The SVFD arrived first and noticed a burn pile had spread to a downed tree. Both units extinguished the fire. The SVFD contacted the landowner who advised the fire was controlled and requested all units to leave the property.
7/10/2024 – DISPATCHED 9:15 A.M. – CLEARED 9:34 A.M. – LEVELLAND
The LFD received a call in reference to a possible gas smell inside the Levelland Civic Center. While enroute, it was noted there was a gas smell consistent with oilfield operations detected outside through the western portion of the city. Once on scene, fire personnel assessed the inside and outside of the building with a multi-gas monitor with no indications of carbon monoxide or dangerous gasses.
7/8/2024 - DISPATCHED 6:17 A.M. - CLEARED 6:43 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of lightning striking a residence in the 200 block of Sandalwood Lane. The caller also stated the electricity was also out within the area. A unit responded to the location but could not find any signs of fire at the residence.
7/7/2024 - DISPATCHED 6:48 P.M. - CLEARED 7:10 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a report of heavy smoke to the south of the 3100 block of BlackGold Road. The responding unit could not locate any smoke or fire in the area reported.
7/7/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:28 P.M. - CLEARED 12:45 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a call referencing a gas smell near the intersection of west Houston and Evening Tower Road. It was discovered that Oxy personnel were preforming work operations within the area.
7/7/2024 - DISPATCHED 9:35 A.M. - CLEARED 9:55 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a report of a flare “leaking” near the intersection of W. Houston and Evening Tower Road. While enroute, phone contact was made with Oxy personnel. They advised they were aware of the situation and were enroute as well. The fire unit remained on scene until Oxy arrived. The LFD was advised the flare would be operable within several minutes.
7/5/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:35 A.M. - CLEARED 1:20 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a report of fireworks going off near the premises of Renegade on S. West Avenue. The caller stated no one was near the fireworks. Fire personnel found a small fire on the property and was extinguished.
7/4/2024 - DISPATCHED 5:35 P.M. - CLEARED 7:53 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a report of a large grass fire at the intersection of Mexico Road and Hartford Road. While one unit was enroute, additional personnel were requested. Once the fire was located, fire personnel began extinguishing the fire and hot spots.
7/2/2024 - DISPATCHED 9:22 P.M. - CLEARED 9:30 P.M. LITTLEFIELD The LFD received a report of a grass fire one mile east of Highway 114 on CR 344. Fire crew assisted Lamb County with extinguishing the fire.
7/2/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:20 P.M. - CLEARED 1:10 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a child locked in a car that was not running in the 400 block of Houston Street. Fire crew found the toddler in a car seat in the back seat. The person who notified the department stated the child had been in the car for roughly 10 minutes. The child was noted to be sweating profusely. The crew made the decision to break the front passenger window as the wedge and bag tools were not working properly on this specific type of vehicle. The child was removed from the vehicle and placed in the fire truck to cool down before EMS arrived and patient transfer was completed.
7/2/2024 - DISPATCHED 11:46 P.M. - CLEARED 12:15 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call reporting a heating unit at a residence located in the 400 block of 14th Street was sparking and smoking. A crew responded to the location but could not see any fire or smoke from the unit after checking. The smell of smoke was noticeable but not visible. The power to the unit was shut off and was checked for hot spots with a thermal camera. No hot spots were discovered.
7/1/2024 - DISPATCHED 4:19 P.M. - CLEARED 5:04 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD was dispatched to a small grass fire north of the Broken Spur Event Center. Fire personnel worked to extinguish the fire and any remaining hot spots before clearing the area.
