Another Day With Dom!

I am not entirely sure where the time has gone this summer but we are quickly approaching the beginning of another hectic fall season.

I hope everyone has had the chance to take a breather and found some time to take a vacation or simply relax.

Everyone deserves a bit of a break every now and then. I was able to head to New Braunfels for a weekend trip to float the river with some friends and I can tell you that humidity is the bane of my existence.

I have spent many summers and vacations within that area and I still can never get use to that type of weather after 26 years. I’d rather have dry heat than glisten from sweating all day like I went swimming.

I encourage everyone to enjoy themselves for the remainder of the summer by going to the city pool or enjoying one of the many parks or lakes within Levelland.

The parks are well taken care of and offer a bit a fun for everyone. The playgrounds are great for the kids, there is always plenty of space to play ball or you can spend an early morning or late evening fishing.

I understand if that may seem like a tall task after a day of work and then it being scorching hot, but once the evening rolls around, it is hard to not be outside with how amazing it feels.

If I had an extra sturdy kayak you would find me using the docks at the lakes, but I am a little to affraid to take that chance.

It’s nice seeing community members take advanatage of the parks.

I tell people all the time that Levelland has some of the better quality of life aspects than most around us.

Having traveled the Panhandle, West Texas and a bit of Central Texas to cover sports, I see what a lot of the towns similar to our size have to offer and I mean it when I say we are in a good spot.

I know parents and students may not want to here this but another school year approaches.

To our students, take advantage of any free time you have before you are going full speed into another school year.

Surrounding school districts along with Levelland ISD are releasing schedules for sports and that means us community members have to be ready to show our support for these kids as they work their hardest to achieve their goals.

We will have cross country kids running, volleyball going and bands getting their shows together.

The fall is always a busy time for many of us but I hope to see as many of you at these functions. I know the kids perform better when they know they have a community behind them showing support.
