Ropes shuts out Sudan on the road

The Ropes Eagles took on the Sudan Hornets this past Friday on the road where they held them scoreless 42-0 in a shutout to remain undefeated. 

For the first quarter of the game Ropes was able to score first after they got 21 unanswered points with two going on the ground, both from 23-yards out and one in the air from 31-yards out giving them the 21-0 lead early. 

In the second quarter the Eagles had two more touchdowns. Ropes ripped one off on the ground from 70-yards out with a made PAT and another one from a 34-yard pass with a made PAT making the score 35-0 at halftime. 

For the last score of the game it came from a 15-yard run in the third quarter to make the final score 42-0. 

The Ropes offense could not be stopped as they had 433 yards of total offense with 348 yards on the ground rushing, and the rest of the 85 yards through the air. 

Kade Franklin led the team in passing with 50 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions. Zayden Pittman also threw a ball for 35 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions on one pass attempt. 

Kolter Dockery led the team in receiving yards with two catches for 54 yards and one touchdown. Reese Williams was the only other receiver who caught the ball once for 31 yards and one touchdown. 

Mason Marmolejo led the team on the ground with six carries for 161 yards and two touchdowns while fumbling the ball once on the night. Ryland Keith carried the ball 12 times for 128 yards and two more touchdowns on the night. Jacob Wyatt had another 53 yards on the ground with one fumble, Pittman had 11 yards and Trak Crow had two yards. 

The offense only had two turnovers throughout the game with two fumbles on the night. 

On the defensive side of the ball for the Eagles they did great as they held the Hornets to 134 total yards of offense with 72 going through the air and 62 on the ground. The team was able to force two turnovers in the game with a interceptions and a fumble recovery. 

Two Eagles led the team in tackling in Kaden Riker and Kanon Buckner as both had 13 tackles a piece. Victor Saenz had another 11 tackles, Mike Sanchez had 10, Reid McCaleb had nine, four Eagles had six tackles in Brady Bryan, Trak Crow, Elijah Flores and Reese Williams, three more Eagles had five tackles a piece in Jackson Lehnen, Maddux Sierra and Kieth, Jacob Wyatt and Jace Fowler each had four tackles a piece, Pittman and Branson Simental both had three tackles each, Tyler Harbuck and Brayden Hogg each had two tackles each and both Mike Williams and Gabe Sanchez each had one tackle on the night. The defense had six sacks on the night as Harbuck, Sanchez, Flores, Wyatt, Riker and Williams all had one each. Simental had one interception on the night with one pass breakup. 

The Ropes Eagles remain undefeated on the season as they get ready to take on the Olton Mustangs this Friday at home at 7 p.m. Olton is coming off of a loss from the Texico Wolverines 18-13 at home.
