Whitharral Panthers fall to Happy Cowboys, at home

The Whitharral Panthers took on the Happy Cowboys this past Friday on the road where the Panthers fell to the Cowboys, 54-40. 

It was a back and forth game all the way through as the Panthers were the first team on the board with a 23-yard pass from Jack Griffin to Nathan Samson gave them the lead. The two-point kick was good to give Whitharral an 8-0 lead. 

Happy responded with a score of their own in the first with a passing touchdown. A good two-point kick tied the game up at 8-8. 

Despite a slow start for both squads, the second quarter was full of action for both teams. 

The Cowboys were the first team on the board in the second quarter after they punched it in from one-yard out with a good
two-point kick to give Happy the 16-8 lead. 

Whitharral answered back with a score of their own from an 11-yard pass from Brent Robinson to Hudson Dobrovolny and the good two-point kick to tie the game at 16-16. 

The Cowboys had another score from 46-yards out after they broke off a huge run to make the score 24-16 after a good twopoint
kick. 

The Panthers responded in the way that they know how with another touchdown from Jack Griffin to Copper Popelka from 24-
yards out to make the score 24-24. 

Happy was able to get another score in the second quarter after they hit a huge pass over the top but missed their kick to make the score 30-24. 

Whitharral had another score before the halftime break after Griffin threw another touchdown to Brent Robinson from 12-yards out with the good PAT to make the score 32-30, to give Whitharral the lead. 

The Cowboys had one more score before the halftime break with a 36-yard pass and a good PAT to give Happy the lead before half, 38-32.

Coming out of the break it was all Happy in the third quarter as they had two touchdowns through the air to put a gap in between the score and give them the 54-32 lead going into the fourth quarter of play. 

For the final touchdown of the game it was from Griffin to Robinson from six-yards out with the good PAT to make the final score of the game 54-40. 

Whitharral was able to get 383 total yards of offense with 145 yards on the ground with the rest of the 238 through the air. 

Jack Griffin led the team in passing yards with 182 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions on the night. Brent Robinson had another 58 yards passing with one touchdown and one interception. 

Leading the Panthers in receiving yards was Robinson with five catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns. 

Brolin Kennedy had five catches for 50 yards, Samson had two catches for 41 yards and one touchdown, Ryder Graf had three catches for 31 yards, Popelka had three catches for 28 yards, Dobrovolny had one catch for 11 yards and one touchdown and
Daniel Rodriguez had one catch for eight yards. Griffin led his team in rushing yards as well with eight carries for 55 yards. 

Robinson had eight carries for 50 yards, Dawson Rodgers had five carries for 36 yards and Kennedy had one carry for four yards. 

Robinson led the defense in tackles on the night with eight. Jack Griffin had another four and a half, Rodgers had four, Rodriguez had three and a half along with Popelka, Kennedy had three, Samson had two and a half and Greg Johnson had two. 

The Whitharral Panthers fall to 2-2 on the season as they get ready to take on the Valley Patriots this Friday on the road at 7 p.m. Valley is coming off of a loss to the Nazareth Swifts.
