The Levelland Loboettes took on the Hereford Whitefaces’ at home last Friday and the Brownfield Lady Cubs this past Tuesday where they won both games.
Levelland 50, Hereford 19
For the team’s game last Friday they beat Hereford 50-19, at home with their great ability to drive into the paint and control the game with their defense.
The first quarter was all Levelland as they set the tone with them outscoring Hereford 13-4. The Loboettes got eight of their points from inside the arch.
The second quarter was more fo the same story as they held Hereford to only four points in the second quarter as well, while putting up another 16 points to make the score 29-8 going into the halftime break.
Leading the Loboettes in scoring at the halftime break was Sydnii Joyce with 10 points, six of them from underneath the basket.
Going out of the halftime break, Levelland kept the momentum going as they outscored the Whitefaces 14-7 extending the team’s lead 43-15 going into the final quarter of the game.
For the fourth quarter Levelland let off the gas as they scored seven points, still holding Hereford though to only four points to end the game.
Leading the Loboettes in scoring was Presley Smith with 15 points, 10 of them from inside the arch. Joyce and Leilani Sanchez both finished with 10 points, Emery Smith had eight, Destynii Jones had five and Mia Morin had two.
Levelland led in the rebounding category with 44 while Hereford had 31. The Loboettes also took care of the ball more as they had nine turnovers while forcing 17 of their own. The team shot well from the free throw line going for 80%. The team also beat out the Whitefaces’ in the blocking category 2-to-1.
Levelland 88, Brownfield 21
For the Loboettes game against Brownfield the team won 88-21, in a landslide with their defense controlling the game.
At the start of the game, Levelland was able to control the game as they outscored the Lady Cubs 20-8, going into the second quarter.
For the second quarter it was more of the same story as they held the Brownfield offense to three points, all of the from free throws, while the Levelland offense put up 25 points making the score 45-11 going into the halftime break.
For the Levelland Loboettes the leading scorer at the half was Sanchez with 14 points, eight of them from two-pointers.
Going into the third quarter, the Levelland offense was on fire as they scored another 23 points while holding Brownfield to six points making the score 68-17.
For the final quarter of play Levelland outscored Brownfield 20-4 to take the win and remain undefeated on the season.
Leading the Loboettes in scoring against Brownfield was Presely Smith with 20 points. Emery Smith had another 15, Sanchez finished with 14, Trinity Wafer had 10, Morin had nine, Joyce had seven, Kaylee Penner had six, Emily Perez had four and Jones had three.
The Levelland Loboettes are 4-0 on the season as they get ready to take on the Denver City Lady Mustangs Tuesday on the road at 11:15 a.m.
