Morton Maidens fall to Plains Cowgirls in district play

The Morton Maidens took on the Plains Cowgirls last Friday night at home where they lost 5521 in their district matchup.

At the start of the game it was very tough for the Maidens as they were outscored 19-4, getting all of their points from inside the paint.

The second quarter was more of the same for the Maidens as they were able to put up five points before the halftime break while they allowed the Cowgirls to get another 14 points, making the score 33-9 at the halftime break.

Leading the Morton Maidens in scoring at the half was Alison Yanez with four points, all in the first quarter.

The third quarter was closer as the Maidens were only outscored by three points going into the fourth quarter of play 8-5.

For the final quarter of action, the Maidens scored the most points in this quarter than all game when they had seven points fall for them while they held the Cowgirls to 14 points, falling to Plains 55-21.

Yanez led the Morton Maidens in points with eight in the game. Khloe Aguirre and Alexiah Garza both had four points, Blaize Garza had three points and Ada Torres finished with two points on the night.

The Maidens fall to 2-16 on the season while sitting in last place in their district with a 0-6 record. The Maidens will face-off against the Whiteface Lady Lopes this Tuesday on the road at 6:15 p.m.
