A celebration of life for Van James Rathbun, Sr., 75, of Levelland, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 22, at First Assembly of God Church. He passed away October 16, 2022.
Van was born November 2, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska. He joined the Army National Guard right before his graduation from Grand Junction High School in1965.
Van received his associates degree in liberal arts in 1967 from Mesa College. Van married Carolyn (Carol) S. Ray on June 30, 1968. He began working for Schwan’s Gourmet Foods in 1981 and retired in 1993, when he decided to return to college. Van obtained his bachelor’s degree in business management from Eastern New Mexico University in 1995. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Levelland. Van is survived by his wife, Carol Rathbun; son, Van Rathbun, Jr.; daughters, Andrea (Mark) Sehestedt and Celeste Rathbun; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ione Jean (Brown) and Raymond C. Rathbun. Charitable donations will be accepted through the First Assembly of God Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Krestridge Funeral Home of Levelland.
