Funeral services held for Ervin Greene

ERVINGREENE

Ervin Don Greene passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, in Levelland, Texas, at the age of 91.

Born on Sept. 16, 1934, in Iowa Park, Texas, Ervin lived a life defined by hard work, unwavering devotion to his family, and a kind, generous heart. He was a man who never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Ervin was preceded in death by the love of his life, Virginia Greene; his son, Donnie Greene; his granddaughter, Stasha Stroud; his son-in-law, Lonnie Stroud; his parents, R.D. and Audie Greene; his sister, Sis Nelson and his brother, Butch Greene.

He is survived by his son, Randy Greene; his daughter, Rebecca Stroud; his grandchildren, Miranda Stroud, Misty Greene, and Johnny Greene; along with many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

One of the greatest love stories ever told was the one Ervin shared with Virginia. They met when she was just 15 years old and he was 18. After only three months of courtship, they were married on Dec. 20, 1952. Their marriage lasted nearly 72 years and served as an example of commitment, loyalty, and unconditional love. Ervin’s devotion to Virginia was unmatched and the bond they shared was admired by everyone who knew them.

Ervin began his career in the oilfield at just 17 years old after his father stretched the truth about his age to help him get started. Over the years, he worked his way through several positions, spending much of his career as a driller and tool pusher. He took great pride in his work and provided faithfully for his family through decades of dedication to the oil industry.

In addition to his oilfield career, Ervin and Virginia owned and operated an antique furniture store as well as Speedy’s Video. He enjoyed meeting people, making deals and sharing stories with customers and friends alike.

When he wasn’t working, Ervin could often be found fishing, browsing garage sales, or searching for hidden treasures. He loved finding a bargain and never passed up an opportunity for a good haggle. His sense of humor, storytelling and love of conversation made every outing an adventure.

Above all else, Ervin loved his family. He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose wisdom, strength, and steady presence will be deeply missed. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with those who went before him and with the beloved wife he cherished for nearly seven decades.

Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, at Krestidge Funeral Home in Levelland, Texas. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, also at Krestidge Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
