Joe Pat Barnett, age 52, of San Marcos, Texas, passed away on May 21, 2026. He was born on August 25, 1973, in Levelland, Texas to Joseph Luther and Ruth Ann Barnett.
Joe was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered for love of family and his generosity to others.
One of Joe’s greatest joys in life was being “Pop Pop” to his four grandchildren, Maddox, Noah, Natalie, and Mae Ruth. They were truly the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
In 2014, Joe founded his own company, Bumblebee Home Inspections, inspired by his love of bees. Known for his unwavering commitment to homebuyers and his meticulous attention to detail, he earned the respect and trust of both clients and colleagues throughout the industry.
Joe was happiest when he was outdoors floating on the river, fishing, snow skiing, or working on his farm. He especially loved spending time on his tractor, tending to the land he cared for so deeply. The outdoors was his sanctuary, a place where he found peace, contentment, and simple joy. Joe is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rusti Barnett; his daughter, Courtney Mercer, and her husband, Tyler, along with their children; his son, Colton; his father, Whitey Barnett; his siblings, Vicki Lynn, Scott Barnett and his wife, Sandra, and Julie Toney and her husband, David; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Ann Barnett, and his sister, Vanessa Carol Barnett.
Private Graveside Services for family are Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10am; followed by a public visitation at 1:00-2:00pm at First Methodist Church, 1011 Houston St., Levelland, Texas.
