The Anton Bulldogs had four boys and coach Joshua Hinojosa win UIL District 7-1A High School Basketball honors.
Hinojosa, in his second year as Head Basketball Coach, was named Coach of the Year after leading a team that had lost a number of seniors last season and had suffered the recent death of Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach Matthew Hoover.
Gavin Martinez was named to the all-district team.
Joe Whillock, Jose Avalos and Gage Garcia received honorable mention recognition.
Indians
The Morton Indians had four boys named to UIL District 7-1A All-District High School Basketball Team.
The Indians defeated Meadow 47-40 in a play-in game to advance to the UIL High School Basketball Championship Playoffs.
They fell to 19 th ranked Grady 61-42 in the bi-district round.
The Indians were 17-15 overall with a district record of 66.
Alex Lopez was named to the all-district team.
Vicente Montoya, Lane Lyon and Anibal Casteneda received honorable mention recognition.
Antelopes
The Whiteface Antelopes had five boys named to the UIL District 7-1A All-District High School Basketball Team.
The Antelopes were 24-6 overall and 10-2 in district. The Antelopes were district runnersup.
They defeated Klondike 7649 and Spur 60-40 in the Bi-District Round of the UIL High School Basketball Championships.
They fell to Jayton 70-33 in the regional quarterfinal.
Brighton Scoggins shared Most Valuable Player honors with Whitharral’s Kaden Smith.
Jeremias Chavez was Defensive Most Valuable Player.
Ethan Kauffman and Jeremiah Rendon were named to the alldistrict team.
Noah Rector received honorable mention recognition.
Panthers
The Whitharral Panthers had eight boys named to the UIL District 7-1A All-District High School Basketball Team.
The Panthers were 19-9 overall and won their third straight district title with a district record of11-1.
They are 31-1 in district over the last three years.
The Panthers were bi-district champions with a 72-27 win over Loop before falling to 15th ranked Lorenzo 67-57 in the area round of the UIL High School Basketball Championships.
Kaden Smith shared Most Valuable Player honors with Whiteface’s Brighton Scoggins.
Jeryn Ellerd was Offensive Most Valuable Player.
Brent Robinson was Newcomer of the Year.
Nomar Gomez and Jarrett Fryar were named to the alldistrict team. Shamadrick Weaver, Dawson Rodgers and Jack Griffin received honorable mention recognition.
