The Ropes Lady Eagles volleyball team swept Tahoka this past Tuesday at home for their fourth straight win and third straight sweep.
The Lady Eagles won the three sets 25-14, 2514 and 25-21 to improve to 29-9 overall and 8-1 in district play this season.
It was senior night for Ropes, which Head Volleyball Coach Jonathan Montanez noted gave his team extra motivation as they wanted to win for the seniors last home game.
The team played for their seniors, but the seniors also tried to make the most of their last home game and that’s exactly what senior team captain and middle hitter Lila Forsythe did.
“She was the player of the game,” Coach Montanez said. “She had key blocks, and she was a stonewall. Her swings were on, and everything was working well for her. She even got to play a little back row. She played exceptionally well all around.”
Forsythe stole the show, ending the night with three aces, seven kills and four blocks.
Though she had several teammates also put on exceptional performances too, as junior setter and outside hitter Allye Bandy recorded six aces, 17 assists and eight digs.
Junior libero Braedyn Reyna had two aces, two assists and 10 digs on the night, and junior middle and right-side hitter Brylee Lauderdale also had six kills.
Whether it was individually or as a team, the Lady Eagles were firing on all cylinders as they are burning hot right now.
They’re locked into the 2A playoffs already as they’re easily the second seed in the district, but they can still gain ground and potentially overtake the top seed for the district championship.
