Levelland wins doubleheader at home

The Levelland Lobos wrapped up the Levelland Line Drive Classic with a doubleheader at home Saturday.

An early lead for Levelland in game one set th stage for a win over Slaton Levelland grabbed an early lead on its way to a 9-3 victory over Slaton.

The Lobos took the lead on a groundout in the first inning.

Levelland tallied three runs in the sixth inning. Marco Guillen went yard with a three-run bomb.

Wyatt Baccus earned the win for the Lobos.

The righthander went six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking one.

Zane Funderburk took the loss for Slaton.

The pitcher surrendered four runs on five hits over four innings, striking out one.

Blake Klose went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Levelland’s offense in hits.

Slaton tallied seven hits on the day. CJ Anzley and Xavier Lopez each managed multiple hits for Slaton.

In game two, Levelland defeated Lubbock Christian 9-2 by consistently putting runs on the scoreboard.

Levelland got things started in the first inning with a Klose grounded out that scored one run.

Tyler Pemberton got the win for the Lobos.

Pemberton allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Cade Larson took the loss for Lubbock Christian. Larson went four innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out four.

Levelland tallied one home run on the day.

Marco Guillen went for the long ball in the third inning.

Levelland racked up 11 hits.

Rusty Johnson, Guillen, Carson Boggs, and Noah Tienda each racked up multiple hits for the Lobos.

Johnson went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Levelland in hits.

Boggs led Levelland on the base pads with two stolen bases, as the Lobos ran wild on the base pads with six stolen bases.

Lubbock Christian totaled six hits in the game. Wilson Wideman and Brady Simmons all managed multiple hits for Lubbock Christian.
