LHS teams struggle in Snyder Tuesday

It was a tough day on Tuesday for the Levelland Lobos, who lost on the road 13-2 to Snyder in district action Tuesday.

Snyder opened up scoring in the first inning when Tyler Clark singled on the first pitch of his at bat, which scored one run for the Tigers.

Snyder took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning.

In the third, Kyler Groves singled to score one run and Tony Cagle doubled on a 3-2 count to score two runs.

Snyder’s hot hitting continued with eight runs in the fourth inning.

Snyder’s big inning was driven by walks from Groves, Clark, and Ethan Rios. Then singles from Easton Stewart and Ty Davis continued the inning A double by Brandt House extended the Tigers lead to double digits.

Davis pitched Snyder to victory. He allowed zero hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five.

Tyler Pemberton took the loss for Levelland. Pemberton surrendered seven runs on nine hits over three innings, striking out two.

Snyder finished the game with 12 hits.

Stewart, House, Aythen Tarin, and Groves all had multiple hits for Snyder. Stewart led Snyder with three hits in four at bats.

The Lobos are now 1-2 in district play and will continue their district run at home Tuesday against Estacado.

The Matadors currently have a 1-2 record as well in district.

The Levelland Loboettes struggled on the on road in Snyder and dropped a close game, 3-1.

A hit batter and error put Lady Tiger runners on the base pads and a fielders choice by Levelland allowed Snyder to score first.

The Lady Tigers scored their second run on a Levelland error.

After the Lady Tigers built a 2-0 early, the game slowed.

As the bats cooled the third, fourth and fifth innings saw no runs cross the plate.

Snyder added a run late and Levelland finally got on the board on a RBI single from Madalon Rico.

Natalie Coronado was the starting pitcher and took the loss for the Loboettes.

Coronado tossed six innings. She surrendered three runs on nine hits.

Loboettes are now 21-5 overall.Levelland is now 4-1 in district play this season and are tied for the top spot with the Lady Tigers and Sweetwater.

Loboettes challenged Sweetwater Thursday in a big road game.

The Loboettes will host Estacado Tuesday.
