Loboete defense shines on the road in Snyder

The sixth ranked Levelland Loboettes continued their district dominance with a road win in Snyder, 67-46, against the Lady Tigers Friday.

Currently 7-0 in district play, the Loboettes have continued to show improvement through district play and their road performance against the Lady Tigers highlighted their offensive potential when starting early and hot.

The Loboettes put together a 23-point first quarter while limiting the Lady Tigers to 11 points.

Taking advantage of transition opportunities, the Loboettes had 22 points in the second and held Snyder to single digits going into halftime.

Leading 45-17, to begin the second half, Snyder would make halftime adjustments and show a more physical side of themselves limiting the point production of the Loboettes.

Levelland would put together nine points in the third quarter and round out the game with 13 before the final buzzer.

On the defensive side of things, the Loboettes held the Lady Tigers to eight points in the third, but found themselves giving up a little more than desired in the fourth with a 21-point fourth quarter for Snyder.

Levelland Loboette Head Coach Clay Barnett was pleased with the overall effort his team showed on the court but knows they have yet to reach their ceiling.

“I thought the effort was good and the girls played a full game competitively which you love to see,” said Coach Barnett. “There is always something we can correct or continue to work on.”

Levelland’s Lelani Sanchez hit three threes for 18 points while Emery Smith had four threepointers and scored 14 points.

Laci White added 11 points, Carly Tienda finished with eight while Destynii Jones scored six.

Angelica Gonzales had four on the night while Amdrenna Galvin, Ellie Phillips and Olivia Velardez all got two in the win over Snyder.
