The sixth ranked Levelland Loboettes blew out the Mineral Wells Lady Rams, 61-16, Monday night in Merkel becoming the 4A Region One Bi-District Champions.
Improving to 31-3 overall on the season, the Loboettes made quick work of the Lady Rams, holding them to single digits in each quarter.
A strong defensive effort and constant pressure, the Levelland held Mineral Wells to four points in the first quarter with two points coming by freethrows.
The Lady Rams mustered two points in the second quarter, trailing 26-6.
Continuing with their positive momentum on both sides of the court, the Loboettes limited the Lady Rams to four points while putting together a 23-point quarter.
Closing out Mineral Wells to six points in the fourth, Levelland capped off their dominant performance with a 12-point fourth quarter.
Loboette Olivia Velardez took charge of the offensive effort with 12 points. Managing two threepointers and a hand full of successful layup’s, the Lady Rams failed to limit her point production.
Leilani Sanchez had a successful shooting performance with 11 points while Laci White and Carly Tienda continue to be a stable source of offensive production with nine points each.
Stringing together a steady diet of quality offensive outings, Emery Smith wrapped up the first round of playoffs with eight points.
Madison Stafford contributed six points in the fourth with two quality shots from beyond the arch. Ellie Phillips and Destynii Jones put their names on the scoring list with two points a piece against the Lady Rams.
As a group, the Loboettes went 23-57 from the floor and 9-23 from three-point range.
Loboette Head Coach Clay Barnett has been encouraging his team to win multiple phases of the game which includes free throws.
The squad finished the game six of eight from the free throw line.
While giving up 16 turnovers, the Loboettes were able to force 32 turnovers from the Lady Rams.
Closing out their season, the Mineral Wells Lady Rams finish 13-20.
The Loboettes will be facing off with the winner of either the 22-13 Bridgeport Sissies 4-17 Wichita Falls Hirschi Lady Huskies. The game was scheduled for Tuesday.
