Loboettes beat Estacado in district matchup

The Levelland Loboettes hosted the Estacado Lady Mats this past Tuesday at home for their second district game of the season where they won in a backand- forth battle 50-44.

The first quarter was very defensive for both sides as both teams were able to put up 11 points to tie the game going into the second quarter.

For the second quarter it was more of the same, except Levelland was able to take the two-point lead going into the halftime break, with the score sitting at 24-22.

Coming out of the halftime break, Levelland kept the pressure up on the Estacado offense with their suffocating defense and good shooting to make the score 35-28 going into the fourth quarter of action.

For the final quarter it was all drama in the fourth quarter with back and forth offense and Estacado coming back within three points of the Loboettes, but it was all for nothing as Levelland was able to hold onto the lead to remain undefeated in district play. Presley Smith led the team in scoring with 19 points. Leilani Sanchez and Emery Smith both had eight points a piece, Emily Perez and Kaylee Penner both had five points a piece, Trinity Wafer and Sydnii Joyce both finished with two points a piece and finally Destynii Jones finished with one point in the team’s win.

Levelland shot the ball for 39% from the field while going 31% from behind the three-point line. Levelland also went 81% from the free-throw line knocking down 13 out of 16.

The Levelland Loboettes progress to 19-4 on the season while remaining undefeated in district play with a 2-0 record.
