The Levelland Loboettes find themselves tied for second place in district play after dominating the Lakeview Maidens, 18-8, Tuesday in San Angelo.
The Loboettes worked quickly at the plate, scoring three runs in the top of the first. In the top of the second, Levelland mustered seven runs to push the Levelland lead to 10-0.
The Maidens would attempt to respond with a one run bottom of the second to cut the lead to 10-1. Lakeview would put a crooked number on the scoreboard with four runs in the fourth and three runs in the fifth.
Levelland’s bats continued to find gaps, scoring one run in the third and five runs in the top of the fourth. For good measure, the Loboettes added two more runs in the top of the seventh.
Offensively, the Loboettes would produce 18 runs on 12 hits. Ten were left on base and four errors were made.
Loboette Danica Rivera was tasked with the start in the circle. Rivera would go a full five innings with five strikeouts. She would allow eight runs with six being earned on 10 hits and allowed one walk.
Aubriana Rivas would replace River and pitch two innings, allowing one walk and striking out two Maidens.
Barrientes led the Loboette offense with four hits and seven RBI’s.
Rivas would follow suit with two hits and one RBI.
Delany Delgado would have one hit and two RBI’s. Mari Reyna would have one hit with three RBI’s. Tiffany File would have one hit and two RBI’s.
The Loboettes will improve to 21-3-1 on the year and improve to a 2-1 in district play. Lakeview would fall to 1-2 in their district schedule.
With the win against Lakeview, the Loboettes were tied with Big Spring at 2-1 in district play. Snyder had the top spot with a 3-0 record.
The Loboettes continued district play in Lubbock Friday as they took on the Estacado Lady Matadors.
The Loboettes will return home and host the Liberty Lady Patriots, Tuesday at 5 p.m.
