The Whiteface Lady Lopes high school girls basketball team opened UIL District 1A-7 play with a 56-14 shellacking of the visiting Meadow Lady Broncos last Tuesday.
Whiteface led 16-2 at the end of the first quarter and it really never got better for Meadow.
The score was 37-4 at halftime and 50-10 at the end of the third quarter.
Allison Martha led all scorers with 19 points. Tymmyah Olenga had 11. Emma Ayers had seven. Anais Soliz had six. Jaedyn Rector and Kylie Deavours had four each. Arianna Soliz and Morgan Waggoner had two each and Sarai Lucero had a free throw.
The Whiteface girls will be in Cotton Center on Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. game.
Lady Eagles
The Ropes Lady Eagles took a 60-44 road loss from the New Home Lady Leopards in UIL District 5-2A high school girls’ basketball action last Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles led the no. 1 ranked Lady Leopards 17-16 at the end of the first quarter, but New Home recovered in the second quarter to lead 38-25 at half-time.
Ropes cut the Lady Leopards’ lead to 45-38 at the end of three periods, but couldn’t keep up in the fourth.
Ava Grace Falls led all scoring with 20 points. Tatum Melton had 13. Aubrey Bandy had four. Heather McNabb had three. Bailey Turner nad Kati Rhoads had two each.
The Lady Eagles are now 133 and were in Seagraves Tuesday evening.
Eagles
The Ropes Eagles jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they downed the visiting Meadow Broncos 55-38 in UIL high school basketball action last Tuesday.
Ropes led 18-12 at the end of the first quarter. They survived a second quarter rally to lead 26- 23 at half-time.
The Eagles put the Broncos away with a 19-6 third quarter and held off the Broncos in the fourth.
Brennan Bearden had 22 points for the Eagles. Braxxin Partington had eight. Brady Bryan had six. Kade Franklin had five. Landon Nale had four. E.J. Mendez and Tyler Gilliam had three each. Nate Brooks and Reese Williams had two each.
The Eagles took on the Seagraves Eagles Tuesday.
