The Sundown Roughnecks scored five runs in the top of the second inning on their way to a 95 win over the visiting Tahoka Bulldogs in UIL District 4-2A High School Baseball action last Tuesday.
The Roughnecks are currently leading a tight race with the Smyer Bobcats for third place in district. According to MaxPreps, Sundown is currently 5-3 while Smyer is 5-5.
Jeffrey Rodrigues went all seven innings for the Roughnecks, giving up five runs on eight hits with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
Jaryn Flores had two runs, a hit and an RBI. Koy Torres had a run, two hits and an RBI. Hunter Tindol had an RBI.
Isaac Lopez had a run and two hits. Rian Rose had two runs. Marcus Solis had two runs.
Rayden Flores had a run, two hits and two RBIs. The Roughnecks will finish the regular season against Ropes on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Roughette
The Sundown Roughettes fell 13-1 to the visiting Sudan Nettes in UIL District 3-2A High School Softball action last Tuesday.
Sundown currently leads the race for the fourth and final playoff spot with the New Deal Lady Lions.
Sundown’s Emry Jourdan took the loss, going four innings with 13 runs on three hits, five strikeouts and 11 walks.
Camry Jourdan had a run. Ericka Posadas had two hits. Ashlyn Lara had a hit and an RBI.
Ella McCormick had a hit. Araceli Ibarra had a hit. Ariel Hernandez had a hit. Autumn Olivas had a hit.
Bobcats
The Smyer Bobcats jumped out to a three-run lead in the bottom of the first inning and kept adding runs in a 12-1 run rule shortened win over the Post Antelopes on Tuesday in UIL District 4-2A High School Baseball action.
The Bobcats are currently leading a tight race with the Sundown Roughnecks for third place in district.
According to MaxPreps, Sundown is currently 5-3 while Smyer is 5-5.
The Antelopes only run came on solo home run from J McClellan to open play.
Kaden Price went all four innings for Smyer, allowing the single run on four hits with 12 strikeouts and a walk. Post pitchers struggled on the mound, giving up only five hits, but combining to strike out only seven while walking 13.
Austin Martinez and Colton Burriss each had three runs, a hit and an RBI. Shawn Barrett had two runs, two hits and two RBIs. Aiden Martinez had two runs and a hit.
Caleb Clausen had an RBI. 9 had two RBIs. Brodie Medart and Christian Hernandez had a run each.
Smyer will finish their season on Tuesday in Seagraves. Game time is 5 p.m.
