The Ropes Eagles took on the Farwell Steers this past Friday night in Sundown for the Area Round of Playoffs where the Eagles won 28-0, as the away team.
Ropes took full control of the game in the first quarter where they took a 21-0 lead with their rushing game.
The first touchdown of the game was on Ropes first play of offense where Mason Marmolejo ripped off a 36-yard run to make the score 6-0 after the team missed the PAT.
The second touchdown of the game came from another Marmolejo run, this time from five-yards out to make the score 14-0 after the team was able to get the two-point conversion.
The last touchdown of the quarter came from another run, this time from Ryland Kieth from seven-yards out to make the score 21-0 going into the second quarter of the game.
The scoring stopped in the second and third quarter of the game as both defenses were stopping one another until the fourth quarter of the game when Ropes had their last touchdown of the game.
Marmolejo got another touchdown in the fourth to put the game on ice from 10-yards out to make the final score 28-0 after the made PAT from Reese Williams.
The Ropes offense had a total of 358 yards with 337 rushing yards and 21 passing yards.
Kade Franklin threw for 21 yards and one interception in the game.
Marmolejo led the team in rushing yards for the Eagles with 18 carries for 161 yards and three touchdowns on the night. Kieth added another 15 carries for 117 yards and one touchdown, Kaden Riker had four carries for 34 yards and Zayden Pittman had four carries for 25 yards.
Three Ropes Eagles caught a pass from Frankin with Kolter Dockery leading the team in receiving yards with one catch and 17 yards, Riker with one catch for three yards and Marmolejo with one catch for one yard.
The Eagle defense was on fire as they held Farwell to only 146 total yards of offense with 23 through the air and 123 on the ground while also forcing a fumble on the night.
Riker led the team in tackling for the game with 14 total tackles and one PBU. Victor Saenz had another 13 tackles, Brady Bryan had 12 tackles with a forced fumble, Kanon Buckner had nine tackles with one sack, Trak Crow had seven tackles with a fumble recovery, Tyler Harbuck had six tackles, Pittman had six tackles, Elijah Flores had five, Reid McCaleb had four, Mike Sanchez, Mike Williams, Ryland Kieth and Branson Simental all had three tackles, Jacob Wyatt had two, Colton Mortensen had two, Reese Williams had two and Jackson Lehnen finished the game with one.
In the first down battle, Ropes had 18 in their contest while holding the Steers to only eight thoughout the night.
The Ropes Eagles move onto the Regional round of playoffs against the Wink Wildcats in Big Spring where they took them on this Friday. The winner will take on either the Gruver Greyhounds or the Tahoka Bulldogs in the Quarterfinals of playoffs.
