Whitharral Panthers move onto Area Round

The Whitharral Panthers took on the Sands Mustangs for their Bi-District Round of the playoffs where the Panthers won 72-41 at Lubbock Roosevelt.

The first quarter was close for both teams as Whitharral won the quarter 15-12, taking only a three-point lead going into the second quarter.

For the second quarter though, the Panthers were able to find their footing and take control of the game as they scored another 20 points, while holding Sands to only seven points, making the score 35-19, heading into the halftime break.

Leading the Panthers in scoring at the half was Brenton Robinson with 15 points, 10 of them coming from the second quarter.

Out of the break, the Panthers went right back to work as they outscored the Mustangs again, this time 13-11, extending their lead to 48-30 heading into the final quarter of the game.

In the final quarter the Whitharral offense was able to explode for 24 points while their defense was able to keep Sands at only 11 more points to end the game and move onto the next round of playoffs.

Robinson led the Panthers in scoring for the night with 20 points. Nate Sansom had another 17 points, Dawson Rodgers had 12, Brolin Kennedy had nine, Hudson Dobrovolny and Damian Rodriguez both had five points a piece and Jack Griffin finished with four points in the team’s win.

The Whitharral Panthers improve to 20-7 on the season while moving onto the Area Round of the playoffs with the time, place and opponent TBD at the time of this writing.
