Community mega foam party brings family fun to Levelland area

The Levelland community is in store for some summer fun as a Mega Foam Party is set to take place on June 28 at 6 p.m. at Lobo Lake.

An idea put together by Shanna Moody and Mary Engledow, the idea came to them following the devastation of the stores the area suffered at the end of May. Engledow explained that these past few weeks have been stressful and filled with many uncertainties.

“For many families their way of life has been changed drastically,” explained Engledow. “Imagine you’re a child, your home is ripped apart and your safe space is ruined or gone.”

In turn, Moody and Engledow have partnered with Mega Foam Parties to help bring the community an evening of fun.

Bringing the fun to Levelland is Christian Mendoza and Annamarie Lopez as they are in their second year of owning Mega Foam Parties.

“Shanna reached out to us and explained the extent of the devastation the area went through and asked about hosting an event for the children and families in the area and asked what the cost would be,” explained Mendoza. “After talking with my wife about it we decided to put together a two hour event for free. This is our second full year doing this business and we have been blessed. We figured there was no better way than to return the kindness we have received than to provide an evening of fun for these kids.”

Mendoza explained that it was the least the couple could do as everyone has been lending a helping hand to support one another through these difficult times for many community members.

“You see people continue to lend a helping hand to one another and that is what makes Texans and the West Texas area so great,” said Mendoza. “If we can offer a little fun for the community and get their minds off of their day-to-day struggles for a tiny moment, that is great. I think these people deserve a break even if it is for a moment.”

While foam parties are not a common occurrence in Levelland, both Lopez and Mendoza are positive the community will enjoy their time.

“We are going to make sure these kids have as much fun as possible for the two hours we have them,” said Lopez. “We just ask for parents to make sure their kids are wearing something they can get wet in and we will be bringing the foam cannon, beach balls, foam noodles and music.”

While the event is something different, Lopez added that foam parties is something new and refreshing that will peak a lot of peoples interest.

For those curious about the foam, it is hypo-allergenic, nontoxic, dye-free, non-staining, biodegradable and glutten-free. It’s safe for babies, kids, teenagers, adults and safe for the environment In addition to the foam party, food vendors will be in attendance and if there are any food vendors interested in serving, they are encouraged to have the proper city permits and contact Shanna Moody at 806-543-1309.
