The Austin Street Church of Christ food pantry is still open in spite of the shortages from the South Plains Food Bank.
“We haven’t been able to get anything but canned goods from the South Plains Food Bank for some time,” said Minister Jay Kelley. “Our people have been making up the difference with donations of various items.”
The food pantry is staffed by volunteers and is open from 10 am. until noon and 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursdays.
The food pantry is also taking donations as pantry’s across the area have been struggling to keep up with demand and keep shelves full stocked for individuals needing assistance.
