HISTORIC GRANT--The City of Sundown Library is honored to announce that it is one of five organizations within Texas and among 47 total organizations in 21 states who were chosen by the National Trust Preservation Fund for a seed grant of $5,000.

SPC hosting 25th scholarship gala February 24

South Plains College will be hosting its 25th annual Scholarship Gala at 6:30 p.m. February 24, in the Mallet Event Center. The “Silver Celebration” will bring an evening full of excitement, entertainment and – most importantly – fundraising for scholarships for South Plains College students.

Quilting orientation class starts Monday

South Plains College will offer a quilting orientation class Monday, January 23, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 121, in the Technical Arts Building. During orientation night, there will be quilts available to view as well as a list of supplies and fabrics.

SPC students named to fall dean’s list

South Plains College congratulates five more students who were named to the Fall 2022 Deans’ List added to the 680. Levelland students include: Kennedy Constantino, Juan Herrera, Aide Medrano and Emily Rodriguez.

Private Pesticide Applicators training being offered Friday

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will offer the required private Pesticide Applicators Training (PAT) Friday, January 27, in Levelland. This training is required by Texas Department of Agriculture before taking the exam for obtaining the license.

Angelo State University lists 2022 fall graduates

Six Hockley County students graduated from Angelo State University during the 2022 fall commencement exercises on December 10, 2022, at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena in San Angelo, Texas.

Angelo State University announces fall Dean’s List

Mason Bryant of Anton, has been named to the Angelo State University Dean’s List for the 2022 fall semester. Bryant is majoring in Border and Homeland Security at Angelo State. To be eligible for the ASU Dean’s List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.

LHS BAND ALL-STATE

Levelland High School Lobo Band had nine members chair in the All-State band, under the direction of Band Director John Barry and Matthew Tolentino, assistant band director.

Kassidy Greaves graduates from Wayland Baptist Univ.

Kassidy Noelle Greaves of Smyer, has graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a Master of Arts in Counseling degree in Clinical Counseling. Wayland graduates received their diplomas during ceremonies held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, in Hutcherson Center on Wayland’s Plainview campus.

Lobos win district opener

The Levelland Lobos had their hands full with the Sweetwater Mustangs until a 10 point run early in the fourth quarter put Levelland up for good on their way to a 54-42 UIL district 5-4A high school boys’ basketball win last Friday.
