...I am weary...

“I am weary with my groaning; all night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows old because of all my enemies.

Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; for the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. The LORD has heard my supplications; the LORD will receive my prayers.

Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.” Psalm 6:6-10 Weeping is a wearisome state to be in and the psalmist was feeling the pressure of it. Grief kept him in the moment and he could not see any improved future. He is short-sighted because workers of iniquity are closing in on him, obstructing any view he might have of deliverance.

When this reality enters his mind and heart, “the LORD has heard my supplications; the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping”, he regains confidence for no longer is he alone in his tearsoaked solitary moment.

He declares with confidence, “the LORD will receive my prayer” and upon that realization he gains a new view of that which is oppressing him. Entering into the contemplation of his present state is the hope of deliverance, protection and victory; all as a result of the LORD working on his behalf. Before the LORD, it is now not he who is “greatly troubled”, but the adversaries who were greatly troubling” him.

Because there is a reviving hope in the fact that “the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping” and “the LORD will receive my prayer”; may I never lose sight of this deliverance, which is a deliverance even while being in the midst of trouble. May I count
