The LFD received a report of a grass fire near FM 168 and FM 1585. The LFD requested water assistance and advised dispatch to contact Smyer VFD since the reported fire was in their district. Upon arrival and after investigation, the fire was out on arrival and the LFD extinguished the fire. Water assistance was cancelled. The LFD then finished hitting hot spots and returned to the station.
3/30/25 - 9 P.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY
LFD units responded to call of a possible structure fire near FM 1585 and FM 3261. There was a controlled burn within the same area and was confirmed by a firefighter already on scene to be the suspected fire.
3/29/25 - 8 P.M. - LEVELLAND
The LFD received a report of a line down in the roadway of 2nd Street and Avenue A. An investigation showed the line was a Vexus communications line. Fire personnel conducted traffic control until the street department arrived with barricades to block the roadway.
3/29/25 - 9 A.M. - LEVELLAND
The LFD received a report of smoke at a residence located in the 1700 block of Houston. The smoke was coming from the laundry room of the residence where an electrical wire had been burned in two from a portable heater. The line was arcing on clothes causing the room to be filled with smoke. The resident had unplugged the wall plug and fire personnel used a thermal imager to enure there was no fire extension.
3/28/25 - 8:30 A.M. - LEVELLAND
The LFD received reports of a gas leak near the 1700 block of McKinley Street. Upon arrival, a gas leak was undetected. A worker in the area advised he was unloading a dumpster when it slipped from his machine causing it to fall on the meter. The worker shut off the gas and fire personnel placed a lock on the meter before being released from the scene by Atmos.
3/28/25 - 7:30 A.M. - LEVELLAND
The LFD was dispatched to the 300 block of College Avenue in regard to sparks from a powerline. The LFD notified Excel Energy prior to arrival. The responding units were unable to locate sparks or the source of the sparks.
3/25/25 - 6 P.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY
LFD units were dispatched to the intersection of Juneau Road and America Road in reference to a small grass fire. The responding units located and extinguished the fire.
