Levelland Fire Report

The LFD received a call in reference to a fire in a pit behind Pro Cleaners business at Hickory and College Avenue. Upon arrival, fire units observed a person in the backyard of a residence near the area burning firewood in an unauthorized fire pit within close proximity to the residential structure. The individual stated the they lived in a tent behind the residence and started the fire to keep warm. The individual on scene was educated in regard to city ordinance and burning in the city limits. A crew extinguished the fire before leaving the scene.

10/24/2023 - DISPATCHED 2:08 P.M. - CLEARED 2:50 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a potential gas leak near N. Avenue H and 2nd Street. A fire crew responded to the call and remained on standby until the proper company could address the leak properly.

10/23/2023 - DISPATCHED 7 P.M. - CLEARED 7:13 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a fire alarm at Children’s Hope. Upon arrival, there was no smoke or fire showing. After making contact with a representative on site, the area was deemed clear.

10/19/2023 - DISPATCHED 4:48 A.M. - CLEARED 5 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a smoke alarm going off at a residence in the 100 block of Elm Street with concerns of carbon monoxide being present. Upon arrival, fire personnel investigated the area with a four-gas monitor. It was determined that the smoke alarm needed a new battery as the smoke detector was going off constantly with no smoke and alerting on the four-gas monitor. The battery was pulled and the residents were advised to change the batteries.

10/18/2023 - DISPATCHED 6:39 P.M. - CLEARED 6:45 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a report of an individual that had his arm stuck in a tool box near S. FM 2646 and Filly Road. While enroute, the responding group was cancelled by Levelland EMS.

10/17/2023 - DISPATCHED 3:26 P.M. - CLEARED 5 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received reports of a rekindled fire near Florida and County Road. Upon arrival, fire crews found grass and an old boat on fire. Crews extinguished the fire.

10/15/2023 - DISPATCHED 9:05 P.M. - CLEARED 9:15 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call of smoke coming from the area of the Civic Center. A fire crew was dispatched to the area but did not find smoke coming from the building or within the area.

10/15/2023 - DISPATCHED 7:55 A.M. - CLEARED 8:33 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of carbon monoxide in the area of the 200 block of Avenue U. Fire personnel searched the area for the source but nothing was found.

10/15/2023 - DISPATCHED 6:53 A.M. - CLEARED 10:30 A.M. -HOCKLEYCOUNTY

LFD fire crews were dispatched to an unknown fire type near Florida and County Road. While enroute, HCSO deputies informed the crews that it was a fully involved structure fire. Upon arrival, most of the structure was already burned to the ground. On site personnel requested additional fire resources to extinguish the structure.

10/14/2023 - DISPATCHED 11:36 P.M. - CLEARED 12:16 A.M.-LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call in reference to a small fire contained within a cooking grill at Dairy Queen. The caller stated the employees were unable to get the pilot light out and requested assistance getting the gas shut off to the grill.

10/6/2023 - DISPATCHED 8:20 P.M. - CLEARED 8:29 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD was dispatched to the intersection of 10th Street and Avenue H due to a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the passengers were able to remove themselves from the vehicle.

10/6/2023 - DISPATCHED 6:57 P.M. - CLEARED 7:20 P.M. OPDYKE The LFD was dispatched to N. Barton Lane and E. Highway 114 in reference to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Fire personnel assisted with traffic control.

10/4/2023 - DISPATCHED 7:30 A.M. - CLEARED 7:45 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of an individual had locked her daughter in her car in the 100 block of Sandalwood. While enroute, fire crews attempted to get a wrecker to assist. However, the wrecker was unavailable. Fire personnel used slim jim tools to assist with getting the vehicle open.

10/2/2023 - DISPATCHED 10:32 P.M. - CLEARED 11:30 P.M. -HOCKLEYCOUNTY

The LFD received a report requesting mutual aid in reference to a tank battery fire. Once on scene, fire personnel made contact and were advised to standby as they had additional water and foam.
