TxDMV warns Texans about ongoing text scam

AUSTIN, Texas – Texans should think twice before clicking on links in threatening text messages that falsely claim to be from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) or similarly named agencies.

Levelland-Hockley County Emergency Management is urging residents and business owners to register for weather related and emergency notifications to stay informed and alerted in case of emergencies.Residents are encouraged to go to RUAWARE.US to register for Hockley County Alerts.

Local monthly sales tax allocations

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar will distribute $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for July, which is a 4.5% increase from July 2024.These allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.Cities received $725.9 million in allocations for a 4.

Hockley County Jail inmates baptized Friday

The morning routine for 21 inmates at the Hockley County Jail was a little different Friday morning as they were baptized by Minister Dewey Gragson.Since becoming Hockley County Sheriff, Chris Wischkaemper has been excited to introduce Gragson to the inmates as he leads a Celebrate Recovery Group.
