Councilman Stueart announces re-election bid for District D

Michael Stueart, a dedicated business owner and community leader, has officially announced his candidacy for re-election to the Levelland City Council, District D.
STRUCTURE FIRE RESPONSE - The Levelland Fire Department (LFD) responded to a possible structure fire Tuesday afternoon at a residence along S. Barton Lane. Multiple units from the LFD responded to the call where they would find a shed on the property full involved. The Smyer VFD also responded to the call with a unit to offer assistance. The Levelland Chamber of Commerce and Levelland Emerging and Active Professionals (LEAP) will be hosting a candidate forum.The forum is set for Tuesday, April 8, at the South Plains College Sundown Room located at 1401 S. College Avenue. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

West Texas measle case numbers updated

The Texas Department of State Health Services is reporting an outbreak of measles in the South Plains region of Texas. As of Feb. 21, 90 cases have been identified since late January.Sixteen of the patients have been hospitalized. Five of the cases are vaccinated.

Xcel Energy converts station utilizing clean natural gas

At the end of 2024, Xcel Energy converted Harrington Station to utilize locally-produced, clean natural gas.The conversion to a natural gas fuel system was made in partnership with the State of Texas in 2020 and will be fully complete in May 2025.
