BUSY EVENING FIGHTING FIRES - The Levelland Fire Department responded to two structure fire calls Thursday evening. At 7:41 pm, crews responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of Koala Road, where heavy smoke was emanating from the breaker box.

TWC launches dual credit healthcare grant

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is now accepting applications for a new grant to strengthen the Texas healthcare workforce.The new dual credit healthcare grants will provide funding to programs that allow high school students to earn college credits for courses that lead to healthcare careers.

Small Business Index drops during January

The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index fell by 2.3 points in January to 102.8.This is the third consecutive month above the 51-year average of 98. The Uncertainty Index rose 14 points to 100 – the third highest recorded reading – after two months of decline.

City Levelland P&Z plans regular meeting Tuesday

The City of Levelland Planning and Zoning Commission will be holding a regular meeting Tuesday, February 25, in the Council Chambers located at City Hall.The meeting will begin at the conclusion of the Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers.

Levelland Chamber, LEAP announce candidate forum

The Levelland Chamber of Commerce and Levelland Emerging and Active Professionals (LEAP) will be hosting a candidate forum.The forum is set for Tuesday, April 8, at the South Plains College Sundown Room located at 1401 S. College Avenue. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

LISD Board candidates plan town hall meeting

Levelland ISD School Board candidates, Jeremiah Gavina for District Three and Gary Bridges for the At-Large bid will be holding a town hall meeting Tuesday, March 4.The town hall meeting will be held at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church located 1219 8th Street in Levelland, from 6 p.m.

LPD issues scam warning

The Levelland Police Department has issued a scam alert for community members to be aware of.The department shared they were made aware of a false and misleading post circulating in Levelland community groups on Facebook.The posts are claiming that dangerous serial killers are in the area.
