Financial support offered for producers, landowners

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that it will begin issuing more than $2.14 billion in payments to eligible agricultural producers, and landowners— providing much needed support through key conservation and safety-net programs.

City of Levelland approves water meter agreement

The Levelland City Council held a regular meeting Monday evening and approved an agreement with Ameresco concerning water meters.In February, the city entered into a Project Development Agreement with Ameresco to conduct an Investment Grade Audit of the city’s water system.

Early voting for the November 5 election began October 21 and will end November 1.Voting locations include: Hockley County Election Office, 911 Austin Street, Levelland. From Oct. 21 to Oct. 25, the office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On Oct. 26, the office will be open from 7 a.m.

LPD investigates possible homicide

The Levelland Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of one man.Gregorio Nathaniel Mendieta was pronounced dead on the scene after officers responded to a call that a man was lying in the middle of the street just before 2 a.m. Sunday, October 20.
