Jury sentences Levelland man to 45 years

On July 23, Herman Brent Brooks, a Levelland man, went to trial before a Hockley County Jury for the felony offense of Tampering or Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair its Availability.The guilt, innocence portion of the trial was completed on the same day.

Annual Sundown Oil Patch Day set August 10

Through the hard work of many Sundown community members, Oil Patch Day is set for August 10.Similar to years past, the event will begin with a parade thanks to the Sundown Chamber of Commerce.Line-up will begin at 9 a.m. and will take placed on East and West 2nd Street.

Texas comptroller announces July sales tax generated

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Thursday state sales tax revenue totaled $3.99 billion in July, 0.1 percent more than in July 2023.The majority of July sales tax revenue is based on sales made in June and remitted to the agency in July.
