CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT - The Smyer Volunteer Fire Department held their first cornhole tournament (Fire In The Hole Cornhole Tournament) on Saturday in Smyer. All proceeds benefit the Smyer Fire Department as they are trying to raise money for a new station. They also had a silent auction, BBQ sandwitches chips and drinks, car show, games and a dunk tank. SUMMER READING PROGRAM - Pictured is Kelly Hancock with the Levelland Chamber of Commerce leading the Hockley County Memorial Library’s third event of their Summer Reading Program. The children in attendance learned about recycling by picking up litter from the courthouse lawn and made it into artistic creations.
