6/10/2024 - DISPATCHED 10:29 A.M. - CLEARED 10:50 A.M. -HOCKLEYCOUNTYThe Levelland Fire Department received a call of an unknown fire at N. Barton Lane and Alaska Road. A fire unit located a pit on fire and made contact with the owner. The proper notification process was explained to the homeowner.

These past few weeks have felt long for many community members within Hockley County.The storms have not been kind to us heading into storm season.My heart goes out to those that have been affected by these severe storms we have experienced within Levelland and Hockley County.

FCIC Board approves new 2025 subsidy rate

Texas High Plains crop shows mixed results

While planters are still rolling, it’s estimated that 75% of the Texas High Plains cotton planting has been completed.Some areas have received moisture over the spring while others are still coming up short.

July cotton futures give up 232 points

Since last week’s close, July futures gave up 232 points, settling at 75.44 cents per pound.The focus has started to shift to the December futures contract, which is the lead contract based on open interest. December futures settled at 73.60 cents per pound, 291 points lower than last week.
