Hockley County produces more than 100,000 cotton bales in 2023

The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released final county production estimates for Upland cotton on Friday, May 10 and the data shows Texas produced 2.7 million Upland cotton bales in 2023. Texas High Plains cotton production is an estimated 1,468,151 bales for the year.

SPC Livestock Judging Team wins multiple awards

During the 2023-24 academic year, the South Plains College Livestock Judging Team won many team and individual awards. SPC’s nationally renowned livestock judging program is backed by decades of success and continues to earn accolades in state, national, and international competitions.
CAMPUS EDUCATORS- Superintendent McCutchen, the LISD Board of Trustees, and Levelland ISD held their annual End-Of-Year Recognition Meeting and awarded many LISD Educators. Campus Educatorsof the year were awarded, and Morgan Combs won the Elementary Teacher of the Year while Merribeth Gregory won the Secondary Teacher of the Year.
