Gov. Abbott continues Thanksgiving tradition

Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott, along with their daughter Audrey, volunteered with Meals on Wheels Central Texas to help deliver Thanksgiving Day meals to homebound seniors in Austin.

Prop 1 looms amid city ordinance creation

As the City of Levelland continues to piece together an ordinance that handles to the storage of agricultural commodities within the city limits from scratch, the recent approval of Texas Proposition 1 in the November Amendment Election may cause added hurdles.

11/25/2023 - DISPATCHED 4:59 P.M. - CLEARED 6:43 P.M. -HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD responded to a grass fire near the intersection of FM 1409 and Jamaica Road. Upon arrival, fire units discovered a downed power line arcing on the ground in a small area of grass.

Levelland Police Report

11/26/2023 - 400 block of 13th Street - 1:11 P.M. An officer with the LPD responded to a residence within the area in regard to an assault that had occurred. A report was generated for informational purposes and was forwarded to the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office.

Open burning within city limit violations

As the Levelland Fire Department has responded to multiple calls regarding open burning within the city limits of Levelland, community members are reminded that open burning is a violation of Article 5.800 Open Burning. Article 5.

DPS reports two wrecks during holdiday break

The Texas Department of Public Safety was busy in the area over the holiday weekend working two traffic fatalities across the south plains. On Saturday the 25th DPS investigated a two vehicle accident in Yoakum County.
