As a massive winter storm hit Texas this past weekend, power grid operators began taking extraordinary measures to keep the lights on and avoid rolling blackouts.

Anthrax confirmed near Silverton..

The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) confirmed anthrax in a Briscoe County steer in late December.The infected animal was on now-quarantined property 4 miles north of Silverton.The disease can infect humans and animals and has been found in the Panhandle before, but it is more common downstate.
