The Nancy Anderson Chapter and the Francis Rainey Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution are pleased to announce the 2025 DAR Good Citizen awards for South Plains area high schools. The DAR Good Citizens program and scholarship contest encourages and rewards area high school seniors who exhibit the qualities of good citizenship – dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.
The DAR continues a longstanding tradition of promoting education and investing in the future of our youth.
An awards ceremony and reception will be held at the Lubbock Women’s Club on Wednesday, February 19 to honor outstanding high school seniors from 38 South Plains high schools. Christy Hartin, KCBD Channel 11 news anchor, will emcee the event. Each DAR Good Citizen receives a monetary award, DAR Good Citizen pin, certificate of recognition, honor cord and gift bag. VFW Post #2466 has generously donated United States flags and flags pins to be presented to each DAR Good Citizen.
DAR presents the following 2025 DAR Good Citizen awards: Eliberta Leora Boleyn of Morton High School and Avery Alyssa Hodges of Smyer High School .
Francis Rainey Chapter awards was given to Ethan Jack Parkinson of Levelland High School and Bailey Makay Timmons of Whiteface High School .
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is a non-profit women’s service organization whose members can trace their lineage to an individual who contributed to securing American independence during the Revolutionary War. Today’s DAR is dynamic and diverse, with over 185,000 members in 3,000 chapters in the United States and abroad. DAR members annually provide millions of hours of volunteer service to their local communities across the country and world and promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
