The Ropes Eagles took on the Forsan Buffaloes this past Friday night in Lamesa for their Area Round of playoffs where the Eagles won 64-25, in a blowout win.
In the first quarter of the game, the Ropes Eagles were able to outscore Forsan 13-6, taking a seven-point lead early going into the second quarter.
The second quarter was the same story as the Eagles outscored the Buffaloes once more, this time 13-7, taking a 26-13 point lead going into the halftime break.
The leading scorer for the Eagles at the halftime break was Cutter Stumbo with 12 points, six of them from beyond the arch.
Out of the break is when it got ugly for Forsan as the Eagles found their footing on offense and did not slow down as they scored 16 more points in the third while their defense held the Buffaloes to another six points.
The final quarter of the game was the highest scoring quarter for Ropes as they put on another 22 points while their defense continued to hold strong and only give up another six points, making the score 64-25, giving Ropes the playoff win and moving onto the Regional Semi- Finals.
The leading scorer for the Ropes Eagles on the night was Branson Simental with 16 points throughout the night. Stumbo finished with 12 points, Reese Williams had 10 points, Kade Franklin had nine, Brennan Bearden had eight, Brady Bryan, Kolter Docker and Cason Kucel all had two points a piece and Kaden Riker, Gabe Sanchez and M. Mendez all finished with one points a piece.
The Ropes Eagles improve to 17-7 on the season as they faced-off against the Abernathy Antelopes for the Regional Semi-Final Round of playoffs at the SPC Texan Dome.
