The Smyer Girls’ Varsity Track Team earned second place while the Smyer Boys’ Track Team earned seventh placed in the UIL 2A District 5 Track Meet this past week.
The district meet was held in Sundown between Wednesday and Thursday with boys’ and girls’ Varsity and JV track teams from Smyer, Ropes, Sundown, Whiteface and Morton competing.
Results are broken down by school and girls’ and boys’ teams for Varsity.
Smyer Girls’Varsity
The Smyer Varsity Girls’ Track Team placed second with 184 points.
In the 100 Meter Finals, Kira Posadas placed second with a time of 13.09.
In the 100 Meter Prelims, Khloe Kimbell-Morgan placed fourth with a time of 13.41 and Kassandra Gomez placed 11th with a time of 14.52.
In the 200 Meter Finals, Maegan Smith placed fifth with a time of 27.95 and Mariana Lara placed eighth with a time of 28.45.
In the 400 Meter Finals, Jada Hernandez placed fifth with a time of 1:06.32.
In the 400 Meter Prelims, Abbi Hood placed 10th with a time of 1:15.43.
In the 800 Meter Finals, Skylar Wiseman placed fourth with a time of 2:48.41.
In the 1600 Meter Finals, Skylar Wiseman placed fourth with a time of 6:22.16 and Berenicce Lara placed sixth with a time of 6:50.85.
In the 3200 Meter Finals, Berenicce Lara placed fourth with a time of 14:33.10.
In the 100 Meter Hurdles, Ellie Nelson placed first with a time of 17.57 and Makenzie Zapata placed second with a time of 17.68.
In the 300 Meter Hurdles, Ellie Nelson placed first with a time of 50.17 and Makenzie Zapata placed second with a time of 52.25.
In the 4x100 Meter Relay Finals, Mariana Lara, Khloe Kimbell-Morgan, Ashtyn Burriss and Kira Posadas placed first with a time of 50.69.
In the 4x200 Meter Relay Finals, Mariana Lara, Ashtyn Burriss, Khloe Kimbell-Morgan and Kira Posadas placed first with a time of 1:47.92.
In the 4x400 Meter Relay Finals, Jada Hernandez, Ellie Nelson, Makenzie Zapata and Ashtyn Burriss placed second with a time of 4:27.41.
In the Shot Put Finals, Kaia Brandon placed sixth with a distance of 27' 10'.
In the High Jump Finals, Ellie Nelson placed first with a height of 4' 10', Jada Hernandez placed second with a height of 4' 10' and Maegan Smith placed fourth with a height of 4' 10'.
In the Pole Vault Finals, Kira Posadas placed first with a height of 8', Skylar Wiseman placed fourth with a height of 7' and Calleejo Burt placed sixth with a height of 5' 6'.
In the Long Jump Finals, Ashtyn Burriss placed first with a distance of 16' 8', Khloe Kimbell-Morgan placed fourth with a height of 15' 11.25' and Jada Hernandez placed fifth with a distance of 15' 6.75'.
In the Triple Jump Finals, Ashtyn Burriss placed first with a distance of 37' 4' and Makenzie Zapata placed eighth with a distance of 29' 6'.

The Smyer Boys’ Varsity Track Team earned seventh place in the district meet with 55 points.
In the 100 Meter Finals, Max Benevedes placed seventh with a time of 11.94.
In the 100 Meter Prelims, Ryder Stracener placed ninth with a time of 12.30 and Richard Leary placed 18th with a time of 13.88.
In the 200 Meter Prelims, Ryder Stracener placed 11th with a time of 25.13, Wes Tevis placed 15th with a time of 25.75 and Skyler Pond placed 16th with a time of 25.96.
In the 400 Meter Finals, Sebastian Rodriguez placed eighth with a time of 1:00.03.

In the Shot Put Finals, Matheu Corder placed 13th with a distance of 33', Alex Mattox placed 15th with a distance of 31' 2.75' and Micah Stevens placed 16th with a distance of 30' 2.75'.
In the Discus Finals, Mason Medart placed seventh with a distance of 86' 4', Caleb Pearce placed ninth with a distance of 83' 2' and Micah Stevens placed 10th with a distance of 76' 1'.
In the High Jump Finals, Rylan Smith placed first with a height of 6' 2'.
In the Pole Vault Finals, Alex Mattox placed third with a height of 10', Gage Pastusek placed fourth with a height of 9' 9' and James Rampy placed fifth with a height of 9' 6'.
