The Levelland Loboettes played host to the Snyder Lady Tigers for a district softball matchup this past Tuesday, resulting in the Loboettes losing 13-1 across five innings.
The game was much closer than indicated as the two teams exited the third inning tied at 1-1 before Snyder scored 12 in the final two frames.
Those final two innings swayed the team statistics greatly, resulting in Snyder besting Levelland 14-3 in hits and 2-5 in errors in the loss.
“The Loboettes got off to a hot start in the first inning, generating a run off of a base hit from Jill Lopez,” Levelland Head Softball Coach Adrian Holland said. “It was a very good game going into the fourth inning, where the game changed on errors. Snyder was able to capitalize on our mistakes and the score swelled to 13-1. Their pitcher was really good and held us to three hits on the day.”
Lopez would be Levelland’s best bat on the day, going 2/2, and other standouts included left fielder Mia Sepulbeda going 1/3 with a run scored, and second baseman Delaney Delgado and right fielder Jazlyn Diaz both drawing a walk a piece.
On the mound, Jocelynn Arriaga handled the bulk of the duty, pitching four innings and recording a strike out, and Delgado entered in relief for an inning, striking out a batter.
The loss drops the Loboettes to 16-6 overall and 2-1 in district play. They’ll return to action over the weekend at Frenship Memorial before hosting Big Spring on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
