A Lubbock plastic surgeon is facing disciplinary action from the Texas Medical Board due to multiple incidents.
According to the order, Dr. Thanapoom Boonipat is required to take a Jurisprudence Examination (JP Exam) administered by the Board must pass the exam within three attempts and achieve a score of 75 or higher within one year of receiving the order. Additionally, he must undergo eight chart-monitoring cycles and complete targeted education. court documents state that the doctor failed to properly treat a possible local anesthetic toxicity when the patient had a reaction in preparation for a procedure, as well as removing over five liters of lipoaspirates for a patient that warranted a higher care setting with an overnight admission and a catheter indicating that he acted unprofessionally by leaving the operating room during surgery for over two hours.
Additionally, the board also says he left the operating room for about two hours during one surgery, didn’t adequately supervise a licensed nurse giving sedation and kept incomplete medical records.
