Whitharral Homecoming set for Sept. 4

  • The Whitharral Panthers their first cross country challenge at the Smyer XC meet. High school and junior high traveled to Smyer, with 28 total runners competing. Team and individual places (top 10): high school boys, 4th place, Josiah Martinez - 8th; Wyatt Bartels; JV 5th, Knox Noland, JV 6th; high school girls, 4th place, Allegra Gavina, JV 2nd place, Ryleigh Wristen, JV 6th, junior high boys - 3rd place, Preston Prowell. 4th, Lucian Bartels, 5th; junior high girls, 3rd place, and Norah Gonzales, 5th.

    Whitharral ISD is preparing to celebrate homecoming on Sept. 4.

    Activities during homecoming week will begin on Aug. 31 with a lighting of the “W” and Ice Cream contest at the football field.

    Homecoming day will kick off with a fun run at 9:30 a.m., parade at 10:30 .m., and pep rally at 11 a.m.

    The local Lion’s Club chili supper will be held at the school cafeteria at 4:30 p.m. followed by the King and Queen coronation at the football field at 6:30 p.m.

    The Whitharral Panthers versus Happy Cowboys football game will begin at 7 p.m.

    There will be an alumni recognition at halftime and a reception after the game in the cafeteria.
