Cutting horse competition comes to Mallet Oct. 23-25

Levelland will welcome horse enthusiasts, competitors, and visitors Oct. 23–25 as the Panhandle Cutting Horse Association brings its cutting horse competition to The Mallet Event Center.

Affiliated with the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA), the Panhandle Cutting Horse Association celebrates the skill, athleticism, and partnership between horses and riders in one of the western equestrian world’s most exciting events.

Cutting horse competition showcases a horse and rider’s ability to separate a single cow from a herd and prevent it from returning. Often described as “cowboy chess on horseback,” the sport combines quick reactions, precise movements, and impressive teamwork between horse and rider.

The event provides an opportunity for Levelland to welcome visitors from across the region while highlighting the community’s role as a destination for agricultural, equestrian, and livestock- related events.

Visitors also contribute to the local economy by supporting area restaurants, retailers, hotels, and other businesses.

The Levelland Chamber of Commerce invites the community to come out and experience the action. Whether familiar with cutting horse competition or attending for the first time, spectators can enjoy an exciting look at the talent and training behind this unique Western sport.

“We are proud to welcome the Panhandle Cutting Horse Association to Levelland and encourage our community to come out and support this event,” said Angie Covarrubias, Special Events Coordinator for the Levelland Chamber of Commerce. “Events like these bring people together, showcase our Western heritage, and create opportunities for local businesses.”
