Panthers dominated the Longhorns Friday

The Whitharral Panthers dominated the Lazbuddie Longhorns last Friday, holding them to minus 27 yard of total offense on their way to a 54-0 UIL Class 1A-2 Region I, District 2 home win in a game shortened by the 45 point rule. The 45 point rule states that, in six-man football, whenever a team is ahead by 45 points or more at half-time or after, the game is called. Whitharral racked up 262 yards of offense, most of it on the ground. They led 40-0 at the end of the first quarter. Whitharral was coming off their bye week and Head Football Coach Jeremy Holt said the Panthers were “excited to get back after an open week.”

“The kids came out with a lot of energy and played well on both sides of the ball,” he said. The Panthers aren’t taking it easy. They went on the road to face the Amherst Bulldogs on Friday for the district championship at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are 3-0 in district

play. Holt added that Amherst is known to play hard and physical.

“It is at their place and we know they will be fired up and coming for our throats early,” said Holt. Jeryn Ellerd went 3-for-3 for 59 yards and a touchdown. Shamadrick Weaver was 1-for-2 for a 27 yard touchdown. Weaver also had six carries for 150 yards and three touchdowns. Cason Wischkaemper had a 16 yard carry and Kaden Smith had a 10 yard carry.
