The Roughettes hosted the Floydada Lady Winds to open the 2022-2023 season and won 49-36.
The Roughettes came out shooting and scored 14 points in the first quarter, but also got into foul trouble quickly with nine fouls, which allowed Floydada to add three points from the stripe for a modest six point effort.
The second quarter saw cleaner play from Sundown on defense, holding the Lady Winds to eight and the foul situation evened up by the half.
The Roughettes scored 10 to increase their halftime lead to 2417.
Sundown outscored Floydada 11-7 in the third, as the offense fed off of defensive play that picked passes and stole the ball off the dribble several times.
With, a 35-26 lead to start the fourth, the Roughettes outscored Floydada 14-12 to put the game away, 49-36.
Emma Holdman and Yaya Lopez led the Roughettes with 10 points apiece, followed by Allie McCormick with nine and Natalie Urias with seven.
The Roughettes face Denver City on the road, Tuesday, November 15th.
